I love Arnhem, because it has a completely different charm than the stereotypical Dutch city. One of the most peaceful places in the city is Sonsbeek Park – 200 hectares of greenery fashioned after an English country garden. You almost expect to see Raphael’s ‘Three Graces’ dancing around the trees!
When you enter Arnhem from the north, don’t even bother going into the city center. Stop right there at the park. From the station Bus 91 and 231 stops will take you right to its green doorstep. You can stroll around winter, summer, spring and autumn – it never dulls.
In summer there are barbeque parties, festivals and much more. It has a gleaming white villa close to the entrance where I had my wedding reception one beautiful Indian summer.
